Marcellus Williams, a 55-year-old man who killed Lisha Gayle has recently been executed on September 24, 2024, by lethal injection at 6 p.m. CT in Bonne Terre, Missouri.
Felicia "Lisha" Gayle worked as a journalist & social assistant. She was killed by Marcellus Williams in the St. Louis area in 1998 & the murderer was found convicted in 2003.

Williams has maintained his innocence, and previously two executions in 2015 and 2017 had been postponed due to legal appeals or other interventions.

Williams's legal team and the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney appealed to Governor Mike Parson and the Missouri Supreme Court to stop the execution, but they both declined.
